Past Learning Sessions
Rongoa Maori session
In August 2019 we held a learning session for the children at Dey Street BestStart daycare center!
The interactive session consisted of learning using our senses, Sight, See, Hear, Smell and Touch.
Children were invited to touch and smell different plants and create a basic water based drink. They also participated in a relaxation activity using kawa kawa leaves to relax and making natural seasoning and a yummy dip!
After the learning session was complete, we finished our session off with a shared meal including all the things the children had made to eat!
Kai Rongoa- Food made with native plants
Wai Rongoa- Infused drinks with native plants
Hauora Rongoa- Relaxation using native plants
Every Day Rongoa
A natural guide to healing
We held our first Every day learning session here in Hamilton.
Covering a variety of different plants and uses, this introductory to Rongoa session helps learners to understand the basics of what Maori medicine and healing is about!
With a brief bush walk included, we look at different natives and understand the importance of sustainability and tikanga when entering the Ngahere/Forrest.
Our session includes hands on activities and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and touch, feel and smell a variety of different native plants all in a welcoming and nurturing environment.

Community and Marae
In 2019, we were blessed to participate in a number of learning sessions engaging whanau and communities in Hamilton.
We held sessions at Vardon School and Waimakariri Marae resulting in connecting with people and sharing our knowledge of how to incorporate natural healing using simple and effective remedies. With a focus on native and non native plants, we explored a range of common ailments and discussed various ways to provide relief in an affordable and safe manner.
These 1 hour sessions include a range of real plant materials.
Live demonstratrations with plenty time to take notes and ask questions, these sessions are perfect for team building, Personal Development and understanding Tikanga and Rongoa Maori.
